Campbell & Schmidt Cosmetic & Family Dentistry is built on the philosophy that patient comfort can be incorporated into excellent dentistry. Dr. Douglas B. Campbell
Douglas B. Campbell, D.D.S., is an established dental professional and Lake Forest native known for his friendly, relaxed approach to dentistry and consistently exceptional results. After graduating from University of Illinois College of Dentistry in 1982, Dr. Campbell returned to Lake Forest, opening his own practice so that his hometown could benefit from his extensive training in cosmetic and restorative dentistry.
For over 20 years, Dr. Campbell has been honing his artistic and technical skills so that he is better able to restore balance, functionality, and aesthetic appeal to his patients’ smiles. By attending continuing education courses at the Las Vegas Institute for Advanced Dental Studies and the Dawson Center for Advanced Dental Education, Dr. Campbell has kept himself at the forefront of emerging dental technology. In addition, Dr. Campbell is a member of many respected dental organizations, including the American Dental Association, Illinois State Dental Society, Chicago Dental Society, American Academy of Cosmetic Dentistry, A.C.E. Academy of Comprehensive Esthetics and the International Association of Comprehensive Aesthetics.
Dr. Campbell is a devoted father who enjoys spending time with his older daughter, Cari, and son Brad. He enjoys running, cycling, water and snow skiing, hiking, and scuba diving.

Dr. David E. Schmidt
David E. Schmidt, D.D.S. has extensive training in advanced cosmetic and restorative dental procedures. He grew up in Indianapolis and earned his degree from the Indiana University School of Dentistry in 1994. He joined his father’s busy practice and spent five years there, perfecting his ability to perform state-of-the-art dentistry with a gentle touch. When Dr. Schmidt moved to Lake Forest in 1999, he joined Dr. Campbell’s practice.
Since then, Dr. Schmidt’s expertise and warm demeanor have been assets to the practice. He has continued to develop his skills and expand his knowledge of the latest advances in dentistry through continuing education courses. Dr. Schmidt has received advanced training in dentistry at the Las Vegas Institute for Advanced Dental Studies and the Dawson Center for Advanced Dental Education. In addition, he is an esteemed member of the American Equilibration Society, A.C.E. Academy of Comprehensive Esthetics, American Academy of Cosmetic Dentistry, and the International Association of Comprehensive Aesthetics.
Dr. Schmidt is an accomplished swimmer who enjoys sailing, ice hockey, and cycling. In his free time, he explores Lake Michigan’s coastline with his wife, Mary Beth, and three daughters, Callie and Kelsey (identical twins), Courtney and son Cole.
